First flights to Marrakesh and Bucharest take off from Leeds!
Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has celebrated the inaugural flights of two new routes to Marrakesh, Morrocco, and Bucharest, Romania, expanding its partnership with low-cost airline Ryanair.
Expanding the airport’s direct offering to Africa, the first flight to Marrakesh (RAK) departed on Friday 3rd May and will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays over summer 2024.
Sun seekers from across the region will be able to explore the cultural melting pot known as the ‘Red City’. From Marrakesh’s rich history, stunning architecture and vibrant markets, to its bustling nightlife, local hospitality and wide range of luxurious resorts, this new route is perfect for a short city break or extended holiday.
Setting off on Thursday, 2nd May, Bucharest (OTP) joins the LBA roster with twice-weekly flights departing on Thursdays and Saturdays. From 4th June, the Bucharest service will extend to three times a week over summer, with additional departures on Tuesdays.
Ideal for all holidaymakers, including friends, families and solo travellers, Bucharest boasts a wide range of attractions where modern life is immersed with historical tradition. From the iconic landmarks such as the Palace of the Parliament from the communist era, or the picturesque Stavropoleos Monastery nestled in the historic Lipscani district, the city’s vast touring programme, lively nightlife, and welcoming hospitality will draw tourists from across the region.
The launch of the new routes were celebrated with a cake and ribbon cutting ceremony amongst LBA and airline staff.
