Malton Food Lovers Festival

Stall holder applications are now open.

One of the UK’s biggest foodie events, the Malton Food Lovers Festival returns to the Yorkshire market town of Malton for its twelfth year in 2020 – and for the first time, due to popular demand, it will run over three days from the 23rd – 25th May, for a gastronomical celebration that will welcome thousands of visitors from across the country.

The centrepiece of the Festival is its unrivalled Producers’ Market, home to over 160 of the finest food and drink producers and street food brands from Yorkshire and further afield. Applications for this year’s festival are now open for stallholders who are invited to apply through the Visit Malton website.

With the promise of an extra day’s trading due to popular demand from both visitors and stallholders, this year’s Festival is set to be the biggest yet, welcoming food and drink aficionados from across the country. The Festival will commence on Saturday 23rd May and will continue through to Bank Holiday Monday (25th May).

2020 signals another milestone for the Malton Food Lovers Festival, as this will be the debut year for Michelin starred-chef, Tommy Banks, in his role as the Festival’s official patron. Hailing from nearby Oldstead in Yorkshire, Tommy’s passion for local produce will see him hosting the Main Stage with an impressive line-up of chef talent in store over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Visit Malton has also announced an attractive range of partnership options for like-minded brands to partner with and sponsor the flagship event in Yorkshire’s Food Capital. Ranging from bronze, silver and gold sponsorship tiers, participation in the Malton Food Lovers Festival presents an exciting opportunity for businesses to engage directly with thousands of passionate foodie visitors and align their product or service with a very special event.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, Festival Director, explains: “The Malton Food Lovers Festival welcomed over 40,000 visitors over two days last year to enjoy the unrivalled showcase of quality, artisan food and drink producers, entertainment, and masterclasses by talented chefs. We took on board feedback from our stallholders and traders over the last few years, which has shown a lot of support for an extended festival period. With this in mind, we are thrilled to be announcing the 2020 event as the first three-day festival in our twelve-year history.”

Continuing to develop its strong emphasis on environmentally friendly events, 2018’s Festival saw a new policy introduced, ensuring all street food traders and bars served their wares using only reusable, recyclable or biodegradable serveware. This policy saw the waste from the Malton Food Lovers Festival reduced by over 15 tonnes in one year, and zero waste from the Festival going to landfill in 2019.
