Promoting a positive mindset in Yorkshire

Yorkshire Wellness Day is returning to Halifax this month, bringing individuals and small businesses together from the region’s wellbeing community. The event is a celebration of self-care, wellbeing, and relaxation.

Organisers Nicola Winrow and Alexis Blincoe are inviting attendees to beat the January blues with health-enhancing activities including yoga, hydrotherapy, massage, and acupuncture.

Doors open at 10am on Sunday 28th January, at The Venue, Barkisland where complimentary energy-boosting drinks will be on hand, helping guests to kickstart a day of invigorating new experiences.  Yoga is a popular starter activity, but guests can also enjoy Barre Pilates, Meditation sessions, Indian Head Massages and more. There will be an outdoor ice bath for those feeling brave enough to take the plunge; breath work coaching is provided to optimise the experience and attain a calm mind.

Co-Founder Nicola Winrow says “Alexis and I created Yorkshire Wellness Day after searching for events just like this – but to no avail. We didn’t want to go on weekend retreats because life is too busy and planning a weekend away – while leaving the family at home – can get complicated. So, we devised an event that was fitted into one very special day, designed to let you focus on yourself. With so many beneficial experiences on hand, we guarantee you’ll come away feeling renewed.”

Yorkshire Wellness Day attracts sponsors, vendors and businesses across Yorkshire, ensuring that attendees can meet wellbeing professionals from a diverse range of fields. In addition to classes being held in ‘The Studio’ throughout the day, a variety of workshops are taking place, with stalls to browse in between. Attendees can also opt for additional treatments from the likes of Haven House Holistic Hypnotherapy, and Back to Balance who provide Reflexology and Indian Head Massage services.

Alexis Blincoe states “We’re really pleased to have so many local, independent businesses involved with Yorkshire Wellness Day. It’s not only a day to showcase and share their expertise with guests, but also an opportunity for them to find new collaboration partners, share experiences and take away new ideas for their business.”

The media is full of mixed messages when it comes to achieving better mental and physical health. This confusion is often a barrier when it comes to committing to new health practices. Alexis and Nicola look to simplify this, offering the opportunity to try one-off experiences and explore what will work best for you.

“We’re constantly exposed to fads and trends, conflicting messages about exercise, and it can be hard to know what or who to trust. Yorkshire Wellness Day breaks down those initial barriers and invites everyone to ask questions, sharing as much as they’re comfortable with” Nicola explains.

Guests can still obtain tickets for Sunday 28th January by contacting the event hosts directly. Nicola and Alexis can be reached via email, on yorkshirewellnessevents@gmail.com and you can reserve your place for a full or half day.

“For this, and all future events it’s really important that we keep our ticket pricing as accessible as possible. This meant moving away from online platforms that take a fee or commission from ticket sales. This allows us to focus all our resources on making the event really special for businesses, retailers and guests” says Nicola Winrow.

With the event now only a few weeks away, Nicola and Alexis are still welcoming any potential event sponsors and partners.

“We’ve been incredibly lucky to have worked with Ancient & Brave, Suma, and Linfoods in the past and we’re delighted that they’re back to  support this event. We’ve got some great contacts lined up for 2024 but it really is ‘the more the merrier’, as we aim to achieve a rounded Wellbeing Community experience” comments Nicola.

Given the popularity and success of Yorkshire Wellness Day, the organisers are looking forward to amplifying future events, offering even more opportunities to a wider audience. By accessing Pay It Forward and nomination schemes, new sponsors and locations across Yorkshire, Nicola says there’s definitely more to come in the future; “The success of the first event absolutely validated our idea and we know that we have something special here. We now want to keep creating more events like this, making them as accessible as possible, with essential insights into positive health experiences.”
