World Menopause Month: ‘Yorkshire menopause doctor’ hosts free menopause event

October marks the beginning of World Menopause Month, a month dedicated to increasing awareness and knowledge on perimenopause and menopause. The awareness month helps women across the world understand the possible health issues associated when approaching, during, and after menopause.

To celebrate World Menopause Month, Evolve Medical are running a menopause event at their clinic in Pudsey, West Yorkshire on Tuesday 18th October. Dr. Ella Russell, also know as ‘The Yorkshire Menopause Doctor’, will be sharing her expertise.

The event is free and provides an introduction to the advice and treatment options that are available to both perimenopausal and menopausal women of all age groups. With the opportunity to win a free consultation with Dr.Ella where she can offer more personalised care and advice.

Menopause is something that affects every woman, yet little support is readily available for women suffering symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause. Google search data revealed that the UK searches menopause related terms over 75,000 every single month, with the main focus being around lack of support in the workplace.

As a postmenopausal woman herself, Dr Ella decided to develop her expertise in this field when she realised how little support and expertise there was available within the NHS. Formerly with the NHS and now a private GP, Dr Ella has more than 20 years of experience and is well-recognised throughout Yorkshire for providing the highest standard of care to her patients.

Dr Ella Russell said, “Recent surveys have highlighted the impact that the perimenopause and menopause has had on every aspect of women’s lives from their physical and mental wellbeing to their relationships both at home and in the workplace. For years, society, including health care professionals, have ignored the impact the menopause can have on women and their families. Women have been denied the support and treatments they need and deserve to keep them happy, well and their health managed in their later years. Whilst so much good work is now happening around raising awareness to empower women and break down ‘taboos’, we still have a long way to go as less than 1 in 5 women are getting the treatments they want or need during their mid life.”

This is a free drop in event where Dr Russell will be available to offer her knowledge to attendees between the hours of 9:30am until 12:30pm on Thursday 18th October. Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the event.
