Lightning start to 2021 for Meteoric
Meteoric Marketing has got off a flying start in 2021 with the appointment of a new graduate Digital Marketing and Communications Executive and a new Associate Consultant on the back of a number of new client wins. The firm is also recruiting a part-time marketing manager as it looks to expand and take advantage of the investment into Yorkshire and the North East.
Ripon-based Meteoric acts as a virtual marketing team, providing strategic and hands-on marketing support to business-to-business (B2B) companies that are looking to grow but don’t have the in-house resources.
Angela Brown, founder, believes the pandemic has accelerated the concept of virtual support: “I think there has been a change in mindset. I don’t think we’ll return back to the same normal as before, and now more than ever companies are looking to build their online profile. That combination creates a massive opportunity for us,” she says.
Megan Derbyshire was recruited virtually, remotely onboarded and has joined the team as marketing and communications executive. Her role is to deliver digital marketing campaigns to drive growth for the firm’s clients including logistics and supply chain consultancy Hatmill, insolvency and fraud practice PKF GM, and Shipley-based global technology firm, Consult Red. She’s responsible for creating eye-catching content that cuts through the digital noise and engages client’s target audiences.
Megan graduated last year from Leeds Beckett University with a first-class honours degree in Marketing with Advertising Management. She also recently completed the Fundamentals of Digital Marketing Certification through Google Digital Garage.
Julie Fewell, a senior marketeer with over 20 years’ experience, has joined Meteoric as a part-time associate consultant to create and deliver campaigns for clients that build brand profile and drive sales. Julie has spent the last 15 years working for leading professional services firms including PwC and her experience includes strategic planning, content & campaign development, digital & social media strategy and marketing effectiveness reporting (ROI).
The firm is also working on a pro-bono basis to provide marketing support to Tempus Novo, a charity that works with employers to place ex-offenders into employment. “We’re proud to be associated with Tempus Novo, the mentoring and work they are doing with ex-offenders and employers makes such a difference to our society,” says Angela Brown.
Megan said: “I never expected to be recruited virtually for my first graduate job or be able to work from home for the first few months in a new role. I feel so fortunate to have joined the fantastic team at Meteoric, particularly when many graduates are still struggling to find employment. I’m looking forward to meeting my new clients in person when restrictions allow!”
Megan was recruited via the Leeds Becket University graduate scheme. Katie Cliff, head of careers and employability at Leeds Beckett said: “It’s fantastic to see the progress of Beckett graduates, like Megan, taking a first step into industry and making an impact. The climate has been challenging however, we have seen graduate opportunity grow, particularly within the SME community. We continue to work with organisations to facilitate the connection between our graduates and employers.”
Angela added: “I’m delighted to welcome Megan and Julie to the team. They’re already delivering brilliant campaigns and adding some ‘oomph’ to our clients marketing. Despite a difficult 2020 our clients have grown and are positive about growth and investing for the future. We’re helping them build their profile and shout about their success.
“The region is full of untapped talent and we believe that we can grow and create opportunities for people looking to work flexibly and balance a career with other commitments outside of work.”
