Yorkshire’s own Black Sheep Brewery has launched a new, limited addition stout, Blossom, to mark International Women’s Day 2023. Conceptualised, brewed and branded by the women of Black Sheep Brewery, the new brew marks a true celebration of women in the beer industry.

Blossom is a strong cherry stout, brewed from start to finish by the female members of the Black Sheep Brewery team, and will be available on cask at Black Sheep pubs and at the brewery in Masham and from today (8th March). It will also be available in limited edition 500ml bottles online and in the brewery shop.

At 7% abv, dark roasted malts and silky oats are at the core of this rich stout, which was then infused with bright, sweet cherries. On the palate, indulgent chocolate and coffee flavours meld into fruity sweetness, tempered by a liberal dose of spicy and peppery hops with each sip resulting in a light, dry finish.

Charlene Lyons, CEO commented on the launch: “Black Sheep Brewery has a rich 30-year history with many incredible women at the heart. We wanted to celebrate this history and our fantastic team through creating a brew made by and dedicated to our women. It was great to collaborate and build relationships across different departments, highlighting the team’s hard work and success, and to build on our efforts to support women in other ways as a business.

“We’ve been proud supporters of Women on Tap for the past three years, helping in the organisation’s mission to create an industry where women have equal opportunities, which is extremely important to us at Black Sheep Brewery’.

“I am extremely proud of the inclusivity across Black Sheep Brewery and look forward to seeing more women working in traditionally male dominated industries, such as breweries in the future. There’s plenty of space and opportunity for everyone.”

Ellie Wood, design and marketing manager, added: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with this brilliant group of women who have so much passion and enthusiasm for beer. It’s been a fantastic project to be involved in and I’m extremely proud of the result, it’s delicious!”
