The Piece Hall resident restaurant The Trading Rooms may be closed to the public for now, but the team have still been hard at work in the kitchen whipping up tasty hot meals for NHS staff in Halifax as part of a new Food 4 Heroes charity.

The project pools together local catering companies and restaurants to deliver high quality, nutritious free meals to hospitals. The scheme is currently taking place across Calderdale and Huddersfield as well as a couple of other areas, and if successful it could be rolled out across the rest of the country.

The Trading Rooms general manager Simon Dyson and head chef Carl O’Mahony are currently cooking between 200 and 500 meals per day for Food 4 Heroes while the restaurant is closed to the public. The duo have cooked up some delicious meals so far, including a mouthwatering chicken, sweet potato and chick pea tagine, which was their first feast for Food 4 Heroes.
