Earlier this month, the 1864-built luxury hotel The Highfield House - based in Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire – once again triumphed as the winner of the Remarkable Hotel of The Year category at this year’s Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs).
The luxury hotel stands on the edge of the traditional market town of Driffield in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds, close to the undiscovered East Yorkshire coast and is set in a beautiful country merchant house and grounds built in 1864 and reimagined in 2022 by international design duo Andy and Lindsey Lampard, who personally renovated the inspiring space to create an award-winning hotel, restaurant, shop & club.
Highfield House was crowned during a dazzling ceremony at Bridlington Spa, Bridlington, as part of this year’s REYTA awards celebrating excellence in the region’s tourism industry.
This has been a great year for Highfield House, with multiple accolades including: listing on the Michelin Guide, AA Two Rosettes, AA 5 stars, Good Food Award and Trip Advisor Travelers Choice.
Owner & director of developments Andy Lampard, said: “It is a great honour that all of our team & family’s hard work & commitment to local, sustainable quality has been recognised with such a prestigious accolade.
“We set out to put Driffield and East Yorkshire on the Luxury Hospitality map and, every year, we have worked tirelessly to represent the sector and bring the very best hospitality to the region.”
Award-winning Highfield House was originally named to show one man’s love for is wife and the family-run luxury business is now famous for its ‘Merchant Luxury’ ethos, which holds sustainability, heritage and service at its heart. Originally built for a merchant and philanthropist, Highfield House is open to all welcoming momentous celebrations, family traditions, and breaks away with your dogs alike. Whilst it is grand and opulent it avoids the starchy snobbery of aristocratic country houses in favour of relaxed worldly antiques, hand crafted style, and artistic design.
Andy continues: “We strive to represent the industrious Yorkshire spirit and combine this with ultimate luxury, local arts, crafts and cuisine, but we also strongly believe in creating a welcoming, genuine environment where past and present mix. We want to help making memories that last a lifetime.
The REYTA Judges said: “Our stay at the Highfield Hotel in Driffield was truly unforgettable. The beautiful grounds made us feel like we had stepped into a painting, with stunning views in every direction. The rooms were luxurious, each with its own unique theme, making it feel like we were on a film set.
“Every detail was thoughtfully curated, providing a level of comfort and style that will be hard to replicate. It’s not just a hotel, it’s an experience - a perfect blend of charm, elegance, and uniqueness.”
The Highfield House is also home to the AA Two Rosette restaurant - 1864, set amidst beautiful surroundings, kitchen gardens and ancient woodland, and offering inspiring food & drink options which are an expression of the very best of British Seasons.
