Azets, the Top 10 UK Accountancy firm, has appointed Abbie Stokes as a capital allowances specialist following increasing demand for the service amid the introduction of the new full expensing regime.

Abbie, a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, joins from a ‘Big Four’ firm where she specialised in capital allowances.

She’s worked with companies in a broad range of industries including retail, hospitality and leisure, professional services, manufacturing and property investment with a focus on providing capital allowances advice to Northern-based companies.

Abbie’s role at Azets will be to advise the firm’s SME clients who have incurred significant capital investment on projects such as new constructions, refurbishments, and property acquisitions to help them optimise the tax relief available by way of capital allowances. She can also provide advice on land remediation claims on expenditure cleaning up contaminated land, as well as providing support to ensure entitlement issues are addressed and capital allowances are not permanently lost if the appropriate elections are not made.

Commenting on her appointment, Abbie said: “I’m excited to join Azets as it continues to grow. The business has a fantastic reputation and I’m looking forward to advising their clients on how best to claim for these reliefs.”

Alastair Wilson, Tax Partner at Azets, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Abbie to Azets. She brings a wealth of capital allowances experience, and her expertise will be a real boost to our clients. Capital allowances offer significant tax savings but it’s critical that a specialist advisor is engaged to maximise the incentive. Abbie’s valuable knowledge will help businesses to get the right advice and navigate the claim requirements.”
