Leeds tech company BigChange has announced an ‘Outstanding Women in Field Service’ award for UK businesses. Showcasing its commitment to honouring and uplifting the vital role that women play in the field service workforce, the awards serve as a timely reminder that more women are needed in these industries.
The BigChange Outstanding Women in Field Service Award was created to recognise and celebrate a woman of outstanding abilities who is working as a technician, engineer or operative within a field service industry. With a prize of £2000, any woman working within a relevant industry is eligible to apply and nominations can be made by either the nominee themselves or on their behalf with prior approval. An additional grant of £1000 will be awarded to the prize-winner’s employer for a project or programme of activities that enhance diversity within their business.
Jo Godsmark, COO of BigChange, stated, "As a forward-thinking company, we recognise the incredible impact that women have in every sector. As an engineer myself, I am delighted that these awards not only celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of women in industry but also encourage investment in an environment where equality and diversity thrive."
A further award – the BigChange Big on Inclusion Award – also offers a prize of £2000 and is open to all current BigChange customers. Designed to encourage and support customer in their own attempts to bring diverse talent into their workforce, it is intended to fund a new or existing plan to achieve this, such as an apprenticeship, coaching or training programme.
“I am delighted that this is the first major initiative to be launched since I joined BigChange,” said Charlotte Goulding, BigChange’s newly appointed Chief People Officer. “As a company, we are committed to ensuring that women are a recognised and represented proportion of the workforce, in keeping with our commitment to inclusion and diversity.”
