Bradford Business Improvement District (BID) is proud to announce a new partnership with West Yorkshire Police to launch the 'Report It Campaign.' This collaborative initiative aims to encourage businesses and members of the public to report all non-emergency incidents, such as anti-social behaviour and shop theft, by contacting 101 or using the online reporting platform.

The campaign highlights a critical message: Without a formal report and a police crime number, the necessary follow-up actions cannot be taken by law enforcement.

Nikki Chadburn, Bradford business communications manager said: “Bradford BID’s Patrol Team has been instrumental in supporting local businesses by identifying and addressing non-emergency issues. However, their efforts, and those of others in the community, are significantly hampered without reports being logged. This partnership seeks to bridge that gap, ensuring that all incidents are documented and actionable.

"Reporting non-emergency incidents is a vital step in helping us create a safer, more secure Bradford. Every report provides critical information to West Yorkshire Police, enabling them to take appropriate action and allocate resources where they are most needed.”

The BID Patrol Team will be visiting city centre businesses with leaflets on the campaign to raise awareness amongst retailers and shoppers.

How to Report:

Phone: Call 101 for all non-emergency incidents.
Online: Visit www.westyorkshire.police.uk/report-it or scan the QR code on the campaign leaflet.
Emergency Situations: Always call 999 in case of an emergency.
West Yorkshire Police echoed this sentiment, emphasising the importance of community participation in ensuring public safety and addressing crime effectively.

Inspector Justin Adams of Bradford District Police said: “This campaign provides a valuable opportunity for us to work closely with shops and partners to address issues in relation to retail crime. We would encourage people to report every incident, no matter how small, so that we and our partners are aware and can respond accordingly. Timely reporting allows Police and partners to take appropriate action, carry out investigations and bring offenders to justice.”

This campaign follows the launch of a number of other initiatives by the BID including a partnership with City Centre Beat, a 24 hour member support line, and the patrol team which all aimed at creating a safe and welcoming environment in the city centre for all.
