Katie Geddes, founder of The Dance Studio Leeds, who champions the benefits of dance for mental health and wellbeing, is celebrating after reaching the finals of the Woman Who Solopreneur Awards 2025.

Katie has been supporting the local dance community for the last 16 years, sharing her passion for dance and the positive impact it has for both body and mind. Her most recent projects - 'Let's Dance Leeds' and 'Lunchtime Boogies' – which launched earlier this year, have seen Katie introduce dance to the business community. She’s encouraging local business owners to embrace the discipline by giving employees the opportunity to boost their mood and energy through movement.

The sessions focus on the power of movement to bring joy, build connections, reduce stress related cortisol levels, enhance wellbeing and release mood-boosting endorphins.

Katie has danced with The Wren Bakery for a barista-inspired boogie, Smart Works Leeds with a catwalk twist, Youbee Media on a secret agent mission, The Biskery, and a celebratory boogie with several small businesses and high street stores in Chapel Allerton.

Katie said: "I'm extremely passionate about dance and the many ways it can support your wellbeing, and I'm thrilled and humbled to have reached the final stage of these awards. This national recognition supports my mission to empower the nation to discover the joy of the dance floor through my social dancing tips and tricks.”

Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Friday 10th October at Coombe Abbey, near Coventry.
