Avant Homes Yorkshire is set to deliver 192 new homes in Leeds as part of the wider Skelton Gate regeneration scheme, after being granted planning permission for a £60m development.

Located just off Pontefract Lane, the 17-acre site was acquired by Avant Homes in August this year. The site was purchased from Templegate Developments, a joint venture (JV) between Evans Property Group and Keyland Developments.

The JV plans to create a community of 1,800 new homes, a primary and secondary school, public open space, a local centre and a convenience store.

Called Greenlock Place, the development will comprise a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes and feature 15 of Avant Homes’ design-led house types.

Of the 192 homes, 15 per cent have been designated to affordable housing. Avant Homes has also committed to a community contribution of £1.1m to support local primary school provision, public transport and infrastructure.

Work is set to start on site this autumn and the first homes should be ready for occupation in March 2023.

Avant Homes Yorkshire managing director, Alastair Hart, said: “Receiving planning approval to deliver some of the very first homes as part of the Skelton Gate regeneration scheme is great news.

“There is a real demand for regeneration and the delivery of much-needed homes in this area of Leeds. We look forward to works getting underway and Greenlock Place becoming a landmark development in our Yorkshire regional portfolio.”

The Wakefield-based business is part of the Avant Homes Group, one of the leading private developers of residential property in the UK.
