Beverley Building Society, based in Beverley’s Saturday Market, has been part of the fabric of Beverley since it was established in 1866. Since that time, it has continued to maintain its founding values of providing straightforward savings and mortgage products, underpinned by outstanding customer service, whilst giving back to its East Riding heartland.

At the start of 2025, and for the fourth consecutive year, the Society was faced with a difficult task: to choose its Charity of the Year from a shortlist of incredibly worthy local causes. As the East Riding’s only traditional mutual, it is important that charitable partners align with the Beverley’s value of ‘Building Better Futures’ and any funds raised through the campaign help support our local community. The issues of mental wellbeing and homelessness have increased significantly in recent years, many of us either know people or are personally affected. Taking all this into account, the Beverley’s team felt that Hull and East Yorkshire Mind would offer the perfect partnership.

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind has been supporting mental health and wellbeing in our communities since 1976. Last year alone, the charity supported over 25,000 people with their mental health. They do this through counselling, group support, housing and more.

As an independent charity within the Mind federation, the charity offers high-quality, accessible, and person-centred support to ensure everyone feels safe and understood on their mental health journey. They work to change attitudes about mental health, combat stigma, and empower people to seek the help they deserve.

Anthony Snow, business relationship lLead at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind said: "Our mission is to ensure no one faces mental health struggles alone. This donation and partnership strengthen our ability to provide life-changing support and advocate for a world where better mental health support is within everyone’s reach."

The Society’s chief executive officer, Janet Bedford added: Mental health and homelessness are issues that very much resonate with the ethos of Beverley Building Society and, as a team, we’re passionate about the work we do in our local community. So I’m absolutely delighted to be partnering with Hull and East Yorkshire Mind as they provide such a vital lifeline to many people across our region.

If you would like to support the Beverley’s 2025 Charity of the Year Campaign to raise vital funds for Hull & East Yorkshire Mind you can donate in their branch, or online at: www.justgiving.com/page/bbs4heymind
