Avant Homes will deliver 104 new homes in the village of Great Houghton, Barnsley, after being granted planning permission for a £23.5m development.

Called Houghton Place and located on High Street, the development will comprise a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.

It will feature 14 of Avant Homes’ practically designed, energy efficient house types and, of the 104 properties, 10 have been designated to affordable housing.

Work is expected to start on site in the summer and it is anticipated the first homes will be released for sale later this year.

A show home is scheduled to open in November and the first residents are expected to move into their new homes by the end of the year.

Houghton Place is being delivered by Avant Homes West Yorkshire. The regional operating business’s managing director, Richard Hosie, said: “We are pleased to be granted planning for our Houghton Place development and provide quality new homes for buyers looking to move in or to Great Houghton.

“The range of practically designed, energy efficient homes being delivered at the development is perfectly suited to first-time buyers, second steppers and downsizers.

“We now look forward to starting works on site and creating a new, thriving community.”
