Award-winning Sardinian restaurant Domo is set to open the doors to its first restaurant in Leeds, introducing Sardinian soul food to the city’s independent food scene.

Launching at the iconic Tower Works, Domo Leeds will occupy a 2,841 sq ft canal-side space, offering around 95 covers inside along with outdoor seating for 25.

Domo was founded in Sheffield in 2019 by husband-and-wife team Sarah Elliott-Busceddu and Raffaele Busceddu with a mission is to celebrate traditional Sardinian food culture. That same ethos will be at the heart of the Leeds venue where diners can expect rustic and authentic flavours, with a menu that champions dishes rarely seen outside Sardinia and all made entirely in-house.

In addition to its main restaurant offering, Domo Leeds will offer a daily lunch menu with takeaway options for local residents and office workers, as well as weekend breakfasts, making it a new all-day destination for the city’s South Bank neighbourhood.

Sarah said: “Opening our second restaurant feels incredibly special. Domo started as a shared dream, built from years of hard work and a deep love for Sardinian food culture and to be bringing that passion to Leeds is a huge milestone for us and one we’re really proud of.

“We both spend a lot of time in Leeds, and we absolutely love the city and the people. When we discovered the site at Tower Works, we knew instantly it had to be the home of Domo Leeds. We’re so excited to join the incredible indie food scene here and become part of the local community.”

Designed in collaboration with interior specialists 93 Ft, Domo Leeds will be rich in Sardinian craftsmanship. Guests will be welcomed by a striking circular cocktail bar, while interiors will feature hand-woven Sardinian baskets made by Raffaele’s aunts, traditional hand-carved masks from Mamoiada, artwork by Sardinian artists and a bold mural celebrating the island’s culture.

Tables are bespoke by Made By Hands, complete with authentic Sardinian tiles. The space will also include high tables overlooking the canal and an open kitchen, allowing diners to watch the chefs at work.

Works to fit out the restaurant are already underway and are expected to be completed in the Spring. Fox Lloyd Jones was agent for the lease agreement, acting on behalf of Legal & General.
