Leading Yorkshire law firm Ward Hadaway has announced a key appointment in its employment team as the department continues to grow.

The firm welcomes Amy Hughes to the employment department, which has grown by 50% in the last two years. Amy advises on all aspects of employment law providing expertise on workplace policies and procedures, grievance and disciplinary issues, and dealing with contract queries, as well as defending employment tribunal claims and negotiating settlement agreements.

With Amy’s appointment, the team in Leeds is now nine people strong as the department supports a greater number of regional and national businesses and individuals requiring employment and immigration legal advice. Turnover has increased by over a third (35%) in the last 12 months, with a further 15% increase expected this year.

Harmajinder Hayre, a partner and head of employment, said: “We’re delighted to bring Amy on board to join our rapidly growing national team of over 30 employment and immigration lawyers. Her expertise complements the team’s existing skillset and experience. It also enables us to continue our growth trajectory as one of the leading law firms in the region and beyond that provides specialist advice in employment and immigration law.”

Amy said: “Joining Ward Hadaway was a natural choice given the firm’s reputation in employment work, and its focus on both innovation and integrity. What stood out to me about Ward Hadaway was not just the quality of work, but also the culture of inclusivity, mentorship, and ambition that’s evident across the business. I’m pleased to be working within a technical and experienced employment team that’s focused on securing the best outcomes for clients.”
