GOLD79, a communications and content agency founded in Leeds in 2005, is now a Certified B Corporation™. It joins a select group of UK businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.

The B Corp Certification marks a big year for the female-led agency as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. Today, just 19.6% of UK companies are female-led and only an estimated 2% of British businesses set up in 2005 remain, according to data from Companies House*.

B Corp Certification means that a company has been verified by B Lab™ as meeting high standards for social and environmental impact, It also signifies that the company has made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance and is demonstrating accountability and transparency by disclosing this record of performance in a public B Corp profile.

It took 12 months for GOLD79 to achieve B Corp Certification, providing an opportunity to strengthen and showcase its commitment to people, planet, and purpose, driving further progress along the way. The agency’s score was 92.5 out of 100, far surpassing the average of 80.7 in the sector and 81.5 for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The B Corp Certification forms a key part of the agency’s commitment to ‘Doing Business Better’, which includes:
Existing accreditation to the Good Business Charter
Status as a Living Wage Employer
Ongoing efforts to become Net Zero by 2030.

GOLD79 is known for its award-winning “NOISE-CANCELLING” approach to PR and communications, with ethical storytelling and responsible messaging at the heart of every campaign. It has offices in Leeds and London, and partners with purpose-led organisations that share its values, including the nonprofit Chester Zoo and hair styling brand CLOUD NINE.

Tamarind Wilson-Flint, founder and director of GOLD79, said: “Becoming a Certified B Corp has been a rigorous but rewarding process. It is a huge milestone as we celebrate our 20th year in business and one that aligns perfectly with our plan to be Net Zero by 2030. For us, this certification recognises our dedication to making a real impact, staying true to our values, and showing that success and responsibility go hand in hand. We’re incredibly proud to join the select group of Yorkshire B Corp Certified businesses, flying the flag for responsible business in Leeds, London, and beyond.”

B Corp is a global movement of People Using Business as a Force for Good®, leading the way in building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. The movement aims to change the global economic system so that everyone benefits, not just a small group. Instead of wealth and power being controlled by a few, it seeks to create fairness and opportunity for all.
