Pioneering Nose Surgery Transforms Young Woman’s Life in Yorkshire

“I’ve got my life back,” beams 22-year-old Halima Khaliq, following a groundbreaking rhinoplasty procedure at Leeds Private Hospital that has rejuvenated her confidence, dignity, and health. Halima, hailing from Bradford, has endured significant mental and physical struggles throughout her life due to the shape of her nose.

“For as long as I can remember, my nose has caused me immense pain and anguish,” Halima candidly reflects. “It wasn’t just the breathing difficulties that were distressing; I felt self-conscious and uneasy in social situations, unable to relax.”

Five years ago, Halima underwent a major operation at Leeds General Infirmary, which, in her words, turned out to be “a disaster.” “After that surgery, my breathing became even more strained, and the shape of my nose only exacerbated my anxiety and despair,” she recalls.

In search of a solution, Halima, supported by her family, turned to the Internet for private surgeons specialising in nose operations in Yorkshire. Her search led her to Leeds Private Hospital in Shadwell, run by the esteemed Dr. Fas Arshad, a facial plastic surgeon renowned for his expertise in rhinoplasty.

“I was relieved and overjoyed to find a facility with such impressive credentials and testimonials,” Halima said. Dr. Arshad performed the intricate procedure by utilising cartilage from Halima’s rib to strengthen and straighten her septum—the partition between the nostrils.

“While rhinoplasty is a commonly performed procedure, using rib cartilage to rectify previous surgical complications is rare and delicate,” Dr. Arshad explained. “I am thrilled to report that Halima’s operation was a resounding success, dramatically transforming her life.”

He emphasized the profound psychological and physical effects a misshapen nose can have, stating, “It is the central feature of the face, and I take great pride in having both the surgical expertise and facilities to make a significant difference in the lives of patients like Halima.”

Halima couldn’t be happier with the results. “I really have got my life back. I am no longer consumed by how my nose looks, and I feel much more at ease around family and friends, even in formal situations. Plus, my ability to breathe has improved very significantly,” she shared.

“The care I received at Dr. Arshad’s state-of-the-art hospital was exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I felt looked after—nothing was too much trouble. The operation itself has been a tremendous success.”

Dr. Arshad added, “It is incredibly rewarding to help patients regain their confidence and self-esteem. Our work is about restoring both physical and mental well-being, and witnessing the transformation in Halima’s life is truly gratifying.”

In a gesture of gratitude, Halima and her family presented Dr. Arshad and his dedicated team at Leeds Private Hospital with a beautiful cake, symbolising their appreciation for the life-changing care they received.

Leeds Private Hospital has recently been honored with a prestigious national award for “Best Surgical Facility in the UK,” with Dr. Arshad having operated on numerous sporting stars and television personalities.
