Post Lockdown Clothes Shopping

Now that the shops are back open will you be rushing back to the high street or waiting a little longer?

Things are looking very different for shopping post Covid-19. The way we shop has, for now, completely changed and is no longer the sociable pastime it was pre Covid-19.

With the probability of having to queue to get in stores, no changing rooms open and not being able to really touch the clothing in each store, how is the best way to tackle a shopping trip?

My top tip would be to plan, plan, plan!

If you used some of your lockdown time to detox and reorganise your wardrobe then you may well know what items are missing or what needs updating. This is a great place to start. I always advise my clients to keep a ‘wish list’ on their phone of items they’re looking for. This keeps you focussed whilst shopping especially when there is a sale on. It’s so easy to buy something you don’t really need just because it’s on sale. It’s not a bargain if you don’t wear it or if you need to buy more to make it work.

Before you purchase anything ask yourself:

Does it suit my style personality?
Does it suit my colours and body shape?
Do I have other items of clothing to go with it?
Will it work hard in my wardrobe?
Is it within my budget?
Does it make me feel amazing?

If the answer is "yes" to all these questions that it’s safe to say you are buying something that’s going to enhance your wardrobe and that you’ll get lots of wear from.

Sale shopping is a great time to purchase investment pieces at more affordable prices. Look for good quality classic items such as blazers, coats, linen shirts and trousers, jeans, classic trainers, plain t-shirts etc. Items that will stand the test of time in your wardrobe.

At this time my personal shopping service is on hold but I can now offer wardrobe edits, wardrobe style & refresh and style makeovers as a range of virtual styling services, please take a look at my website for more details, I’d love to hear from you.
