Based on the iconic movie, this sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood and music tells the hilarious story of the disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.
Featuring original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar award-winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted) and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, this heavenly musical is joyous and uplifting in equal measures. Yorkshire Businesswoman editor was lucky enough to catch up with Sandra Marvin recently who is starring in the production as Delores.
Originally from Leicester, actress, singer and presenter Sandra moved to Leeds when she was appearing in Emmerdale. "I loved my time in Leeds and made lots of friends, so when I left the soap, I made the decision to move to Leeds permanently," she said. "The Grand Theatre is one of my favourites, the building is stunning and has the most friendly audiences, so as much as I love touring, I can't wait to return home and perform in Leeds.
