TEDxLeeds Beckett University brings together voices in law, history, sports science & art

Four leading minds from Leeds Beckett University are set to share their unique views on the challenges of living in our changing world at an upcoming free public event.

TEDxLeeds Beckett University, an independently organised TEDx event, will take place on 12 February at Leeds School of Arts and will feature thought-provoking talks designed to inspire curiosity and foster innovative thinking in tackling society’s complex challenges.

The speakers at TEDxLeeds Beckett University include:

Dr. Rachel Rich, Reader at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, is a historian focused on the cultural history of food in modern Europe. Her current research explores royal dining in Georgian England and digitising King George III’s household menus.

Professor Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo, Professor of Law and Technology, researches digital governance, cybersecurity, and digital rights. She advises international bodies, including the UN, and contributes to global discussions on cybercrime and ICT governance.

Professor Ben Jones, Professor of Sports Science, specialises in sports performance, injury prevention, and athlete welfare. He consults for Premiership Rugby, leads research strategies, and contributes to concussion policy and player welfare globally.

Dr. Lara Rose, a multidisciplinary artist and Creative Associate at the Geraldine Connor Foundation, explores themes of identity and heritage through art, sculpture, and poetry. Her PhD project includes a life-size sculpture of Geraldine Connor, the first of a black woman in Leeds.
Taking place at The Theatre, Leeds School of Arts, within Leeds Beckett University’s vibrant city campus, the event will run from 16:30 to 18:00 on 12 February and is free to attend for the public. The event is now sold out but register online to join the waiting list.
