The 3 Acres restaurant in Huddersfield has marked six months since reopening following a devastating fire on Boxing Day 2023, welcoming almost 40,000 diners since May.

The restaurant with rooms – which has been owned and run by the Truelove family since 1968 – reopened on 18 May after a 17-month programme of refurbishment including a redesigned restaurant and bar, eight brand new luxury bedrooms, and a £450,000 state-of-the-art kitchen.

Owner, Tom Truelove, said: “As we gear up for our first Christmas since reopening, we’ve been reflecting on the unbelievable level of support we’ve been shown over the past six months. Almost 40,000 guests have dined with us since May and the feedback we’ve had has been excellent.

“The refurbishment following the fire was a difficult and challenging process, not least because we were conscious of staying true to the essence of The 3 Acres throughout the renovation while also implementing enough subtle changes to designing the building for its next chapter and to deliver an even more refined experience.

“However, the reaction to what we’ve created – and the number of guests we’ve welcomed through the doors since reopening – show that the choices we made were the right ones and we’re delighted with what we have achieved.”

A major part of the restaurant’s refurbishment was the design and specification of a state-of-the-art kitchen designed in collaboration with Huddersfield-based Green’s Commercial Kitchens and featuring hi-tech equipment including a Rotisol rotisserie, Josper woodfired grill, and an MKN Flexichef Brat Pan.

Tom added: “We spent months designing and specifying our new kitchen to create what I believe is now one of the best in the country and allows our team of chefs to push the boundaries of culinary excellence and create the exceptional food that The 3 Acres is renowned for and that generations of families and returning guests know and love.”
