The 3 Acres reveals first look at new bedroom schemes following fire

The 3 Acres has shared a first look at three luxury interior schemes for its new bedrooms ahead of reopening in May.

Owner Tom Truelove and wife, Lauren, have shared the schemes that will feature in three of the eight bedrooms being refurbished following severe fire damage on Boxing Day 2023.

Lauren explained: “The refurbishment of The 3 Acres following the fire has provided us with the opportunity to create beautiful new schemes in eight of our sixteen bedrooms that truly reflect the ambiance, quality of food and experience that guests tell us they love so much when they visit us to eat.

“The eight bedrooms in the main building have been completely redesigned. Upstairs, we’ve reimagined the layout and created a cosy new landing leading to our luxurious bedrooms. This reconfiguration also means that all of the bedrooms now enjoy the far-reaching views over the Pennines that we are so lucky to have on our doorstep at The 3 Acres.”

York based interior design house, House of JOAN, has partnered with The 3 Acres to design the interior schemes for the new bedrooms.

Rebecca Herman, director at House of JOAN, explained: “Our brief was to inject personality and character into the guest rooms to reflect the heritage of this much-loved family-run venue – with the aim to create a memorable stay and ensure the rooms complimented the existing heritage of The 3 Acres.

“We based our schemes around the distinctive collections of Lewis & Wood wallpapers – a brand that has a long association with The 3 Acres and whose wallpapers featured prominently in the restaurant before the fire. Keeping this link to the past was something that Tom and Lauren were keen to ensure remained.

“We have created timeless interiors that respect the age of the building and emphasise the incredible moorland setting through the colour palette and patterns used and have ensured antique furniture and period details sit successfully alongside more modern elements to create comfortable bedrooms, each with their own individual style.”

The venue has also partnered with York based sustainable bedding manufacturer, Floks, who will be supplying mattresses for eight of the bedrooms.

Lauren added: ““Floks is a sustainable brand and its 100% wool mattresses are made right here in Yorkshire. Using only the finest, traceable British sheep’s wool and luxury organic cotton, they’re not only naturally thermoregulating and kind on you, but kind on the planet, too.”

Established in 1968 by Tom’s grandfather, Derrick Truelove, The 3 Acres has developed into one of Yorkshire’s most well-regarded venues, renowned for its heritage approach to modern hospitality combined with experiential elements including the much-loved Woodfired Oven Co and Après Ski Winter Lodge.

In 1971, Tom’s father, Neil, joined the business along with then-head chef, Brian Orme – both of whom are now retired. Tom, himself a chef, joined the business in 2008, before becoming a partner in 2012.

Over the years, chefs at The 3 Acres have cooked for high-profile guests, including celebrity chefs such as Rick Stein, Marco Pierre White and Delia Smith, to other familiar names including Stephen Fry, David Cameron and Sharon Osborne, to name but a few.

The 3 Acres will reopen on Sunday 18 May and reservations for dining and accommodation can now be made online at3acres.com
