Safely bringing the Christmas cheer to Halifax again for 2020, The Piece Hall Trust has announced some of the exciting festive events and activities that will take place at the iconic Halifax landmark this winter season.

Following careful planning, The Piece Hall’s Christmas season will take place from Saturday 14 November to Friday 31 December 2020. Against the stunning architectural backdrop, the brightly decorated Christmas tree, live music from the bandstand and the return of the great traditional carousel, The Piece Hall’s extensive 2020 programme will include Christmas Fairs, comedy nights, dinner and cabaret packages and The Piece Hall’s first-ever Father Christmas Experience.

Coinciding with Halifax’s annual Christmas Light Switch On, 21 and 22 November will see the open-air courtyard host an additional Christmas Fair, before seeing the return of the ever-popular principle Christmas Fair on 27, 28 and 29 November. Bringing together the best of local artists, makers, traders and suppliers all from within 15 miles of Halifax, the Christmas Fairs will offer an abundance of unique stalls boasting everything from cheese and sweets, to prints and jewellery, beside an array of warming food and tasty tipples. Additional checks and guidance will be in place for traders and visitors to maintain COVID-19 safety guidelines.

For younger visitors, The Piece Hall will offer the inaugural Father Christmas Experience in partnership with Sneaky Experience on selected days throughout December. Father Christmas Comes to the Piece Hall, has never-been-seen-before and this bespoke experience will welcome small groups on a magical journey of storytelling and festive imagination with the opportunity to meet the man himself.

Hosted in The Trading Rooms, a festive Dinner & Christmas Cabaret package will see diners serenaded with a musical line-up including jazz and pop with iconic piano man Elite Elton John tribute, and the Ultimate Adele tribute across selected December dates.

Catering for comedy-seekers, The Piece Hall will also be running a series of Caygill Comedy Club nights throughout December, where three fantastic UK comedians will perform hilarious 90-minute shows to table-seated audiences. Initial shows will feature Allyson-June Smith, Eddy Brimson and Alex Boardman. More shows to be announced.

Nicky Chance-Thompson DL, CEO at The Piece Hall Trust, said: “We are really pleased to announce our much anticipated programme of events for Christmas 2020, which we’ve designed to help bring some cheer in what has been a challenging year for many.

"We’ve spent a lot of time planning and considering how we can deliver safe and fun festive activities for all within COVID-19 guidelines. Once again we hope that The Piece Hall can play a central role in Christmas, especially at a time in which our loved ones will be more important than ever.”

To accompany the programme of events and ensure a truly great day out, the venue’s vast range of independent traders will be offering the very best of seasonal food and drink, as well as the opportunity to pick up gifts in many of the independent retailers.

All events and activities will be subject to restrictions on audience numbers and will strictly adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Tickets for the Father Christmas Experience, the Dinner & Christmas Cabaret and the Caygill Comedy Club will be released via The Piece Hall website www.thepiecehall.co.uk with priority booking for Piece Hall members available from 10am on Thursday 8 October and general on sale opening at 10am on Friday 9 October.

To ensure the safety of The Piece Hall’s visitors and staff, there will be a limited number of tickets available for events throughout the season, so visitors are advised to book early and avoid missing out.
