The play team at a Bradford garden centre is celebrating after being shortlisted for a regional tourism award.

Grass Hoppers Play at Tong Garden Centre has reached the final in the ‘Kids First' category of the Yorkshire Post Tourism Awards 2022.

Organised by the Yorkshire Post, the inaugural awards celebrate the best of Yorkshire's hoteliers, B&Bs, restaurants, theme parks, visitor attractions and all businesses that attract tourists to the county.

Grass Hoppers is the only West Yorkshire business in the final and faces competition from tourism businesses including Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park, York's Chocolate Story and The Hole in Wand York. The judging panel comprises chef consultant, Steph Moon, Taylors of Harrogate MD, Simon Eyles and tourism and hospitality experts, Susie Brindley and Philip Bolson.

"We have worked hard to make Grass Hoppers a great destination play area for children up to the age of 10, so we're delighted that tourism experts have recognised its appeal," said Grass Hoppers' Head of Play, Caroline Ellis.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner at the Headingley Stadium in Leeds on 5th December.

Grass Hoppers is a safe and secure play space for families set in the grounds of Tong Garden Centre. A second Grass Hoppers has opened at Tong's sister site, Tingley Garden Centre, which is also home to Mission Out, a 4.8-acre outdoor adventure play attraction for 6 -14-year-olds.
