The Springs retail and leisure destination at Thorpe Park Leeds is lending unit space to showcase the work of local artist Holly Rowan Hesson.

As an established artist working in sculpture and installation responding to buildings, architecture and physical space, Holly is linking the installation to the forthcoming Light Night Leeds, now the UK’s largest annual arts and light festival taking place on 13th and 14th October.

The new pop-up display will be shown for one night only, on Thursday 13th October from 6pm until 9pm. The artwork will be displayed within unit 37, adjacent to Caffe Nero and visible to all passing

Holly Rowan Hesson explains what visitors can expect to see in the display:
“The installation will use abstract photographs I make reflecting on my interest in colour in the built environment. Shown side by side on a pair of projectors, the large-scale colourful images will be the same on each projector but will run in different sequences at varying speeds so visitors may well experience a pair – hence the title of the installation, ‘Snap’, complimenting this year’s Light Night Leeds playful city theme.”

Scarborough Group International (SGI) which delivered The Springs in partnership with Legal & General Capital, is committed to supporting local talent but also keen to provide new and engaging attractions for visitors as part of the overall experience.

Rachel Vickers, senior commercial manager at SGI, said, “We are delighted to be able to lend space at The Springs to Holly Rowan Hesson. The park is now very well established with most units occupied by leading national brands. It is therefore part of our strategy to fill the remaining, smaller units to offer a more diverse experience for our visitors and at the same time support our local talent. The pop-up concept is a great way to do this and bring something new and interesting to The Springs on a regular basis.”

The Springs Leeds is a 350,000 sq ft shopping and leisure attraction located at the heart of award-winning business destination, Thorpe Park Leeds. Attractions include the UK’s first purpose designed ODEON Luxe cinema, Next, Boots, M&S, TK Maxx, H&M, Pure Gym, and many more.
