Two Yorkshire Mums, Amy Melling and Laura Batchelor have created a new membership for parents to navigate parenthood.

Your Little Village membership is aimed at anyone who looks after children in their care including parents, carers and grandparents. As there are so many stages in children growing up, the Village offers support and advice from industry experts along the way, from bump, to birth and beyond.

Amy says: “Laura and I have talked for a while about setting up a support network for parents. We've decided to create this new membership for parents to navigate parenthood and become part of a supportive community with likeminded people. It's real life, with real advice and no judgement. It aims to be a one-stop shop for parents and carers to get advice across so many aspects of parenthood with access to the community and the village that we all really need.”

In their first month, they have already secured some recognisable names on their panel of experts, who will provide exclusive content in the form of blogs, podcasts and videos. Amongst so many experts, Katie Higham from Katie’s Classroom shares advice on education and children’s mental health and Michele Trevor from Mini First Aid in West Leeds, Bradford and York offers all the advice on children’s first aid. Other experts include Chadwick Lawrence Family Law firm, Andy’s Man Club and Personal Trainers from HD3 Fitness Centre.

One Expert, Kelly Thistlethwaite from FLY Mama says: “We are so proud to have been asked to be on the panel of experts for Your Little Village. Our platform offers support for mother’s emotional and physical wellbeing, and we support them throughout pregnancy and motherhood as well as supporting individuals through perinatal trauma and loss. We are privileged that our resources are reaching a wider audience and we are helping more people.”

Laura adds: “The 6 pillars of our membership cover advice and support across Community, Education, Health, Pregnancy, Wellbeing and Family Life. We are so excited to have launched this with the help of our carefully chosen experts. We realise that parents’ time is valuable and with lots of free advice online, people can spend hours trawling through google to find the advice they need. Your Little Village is a unique compilation of parenting and family advice from many different expert sources, all in one place. We give members the complete picture and offer advice and tips in the privacy of their own home.”

As Laura and Amy are aware of the current cost of living crisis and parents are often struggling to make ends meet, they have decided that for anyone who signs up to the membership before 31st December 2022, they will get a full year free! You can find out more here:

Why tax returns are forcing women to rethink their careers

There's a very specific moment that happens for many professional women at this time of year, and it has nothing to do with spring motivation or fresh starts. It arrives when they're doing their tax return, and what begins as a financial exercise often becomes something far more revealing. Dr Claire Kaye, a former award-winning NHS GP turned career and confidence coach, sees it repeatedly in her practice: women who sit down to work through their figures and, in the process of calculating what
