Wakefield-based software development specialists Propel donated over £600 worth of essential items to St George’s Food Bank to support those in need this Christmas, including 80 selection boxes.

St George’s Community Centre, located in Lupset, Wakefield, recently reported an increased number of emergency food parcel requests as the cost-of-living rises and is supporting individuals who only have access to a kettle and/or microwave.

Instead of giving out company Christmas cards, the software firm has donated essential items, such as tinned meals, dried food, microwave rice packets, instant pasta and noodles, toiletries, and hygiene products for individuals and families as Christmas approaches.

Propel has also supported Wakefield Hospice this year, a charity and organisation providing care for people with advanced active, progressive, and life-threatening illnesses. Using their World Cup sweepstake packs, Propel donated a £50 Amazon voucher as a prize and will donate 100% of the money raised to the Hospice.

Propel is also participating in Horbury’s third annual Christmas Window Walk, as they have decorated their windows to reflect Icelandic festivities, where the theme is Christmas traditions.

Andy Brown, managing director and co-owner of Propel, summarises: “As a company, we value giving back to our community and regularly support charities across Yorkshire and Hertfordshire.

“There are many people within our community who are either struggling or know someone having a hard time due to inflation and increased interest rates, so we were keen to support those in need directly. We’re so proud and grateful to our team, which helped us donate £600 worth of donations for such a worthy cause.”
