York-based McMillan & Associates has grown its team with the appointment of two experienced HR managers, adding over five decades of combined expertise to the business.

Siobhan Clarke (below) and Jo Grewer (above) join as HR managers to further enhance the company’s practical, people-focussed support for growing companies across Yorkshire and beyond.

Bringing over 25 years’ experience, Siobhan has worked in-house in large organisations, start-ups and specialist science and agri-tech environments. Beginning her career in training and development, she progressed to senior HR business partner roles supporting workforces of up to 800 employees, later operating at director level and as an independent consultant.

Siobhan says: “I take a calm, pragmatic approach to HR, listening, understanding the issue, and always finding a way forward for clients. I love the variety of working as a consultant as it gives me the opportunity to work across a wide range of businesses, and that breadth of experience gives me a broader view on issues that businesses face.”

Jo has built her career across FMCG, education, healthcare and the charity sector, including senior roles and nearly a decade running her own HR consultancy supporting SMEs. Known for her down-to-earth style, she prides herself on building strong relationships and delivering practical, people-focussed solutions.

Says Jo: “I’ve worked across a broad range of sectors, supporting organisations including large multinationals through to SMEs. This variety in experience gives me the advantage of being able to add value to businesses from the get-go so they see an immediate ROI. I was drawn to the role due to the strength of the team and its commitment to flexible working and wellbeing. The dynamic nature of the role is particularly appealing, and I’m motivated by the variety it offers. I look forward to continuing to make a meaningful impact for clients while contributing to the growth of our consultancy business.”

McMillan & Associates, which employs 15 HR professionals and associates from its Clifton Moor base, is targeting further growth across the region, with a focus on supporting more SMEs to navigate change, unlock the potential of their people and deliver sustainable business performance.

Founder and director, Natalie McMillan, says: “I’m excited to welcome Siobhan and Jo to our growing team. They have both slotted straight in and already it feels as though they’ve been here for years. They each bring extensive experience to the business and, crucially, share our values of pragmatism, empathy and being genuinely invested in clients’ success. Their expertise will play a key role in helping more SMEs in the region build confident and high-performing teams.”
