Mid-maternity leave, after the birth of her second child, PR and communications expert Laura Robinson was left with uncertainty over a job she’d worked in for seven years due to the impacts of Covid-19. Like so many others, Laura found herself in uncertain times but instead of dwelling on the negatives she decided to take a leap of faith and leave the position she’d loved, to offer her services as an independent consultant. “I know I’m not the only one who felt like they were left in a limbo situation, professionally and personally during 2020, but being a mum of two with a love for my career I needed to get back to what I do best and show my children just what their mummy can do. I needed to remind myself what I can do too. It really was a now or never moment.”

Since launching Laura Robinson PR in November 2020, Laura’s not only gone on to have a lux and loyal clientele of brands and talent, but gained national press coverage, directed photoshoots, re-launched brands, launched new products and agreed celebrity and influencer collaborations. “I feel incredibly lucky to be where I am as a business given the climate and the time it has taken me to move things forward, but there’s no shying away from the fact it takes a lot of hard-work, long-days and juggling my role as a mum too. That being said, I certainly feel grateful and excited about what the future could bring.”

Due to the demand for Laura and her services, she has quickly become a go-to for business’ and individuals who are wanting to their brand to the next level, which is why she has newly appointed Holly Harper as press office and social media intern for the Laura Robinson PR. Laura said “Internships are something I am incredibly passionate about, especially for graduates of the North who have a hunger to gain experience and a degree to put to use. 11 years ago when I first graduated from my masters’ degree in fashion I too was involved in numerous internships and work experiences that formulated the foundations for the career I now have. I am also a proud northerner and empower other creative northerners who worry they can’t be associated with the brands and even celebrities that are more commonly associated to big corporations in the capital. I’m not only proud to be in a position where I can add a member of my team, but the introduction of Holly allows me to share with her my experiences, best practice and opportunities which will hopefully benefit her in her later career in a decades time too.”

The most exciting thing about the growth of the small agency is that the success has come from word of mouth, with little to no promotion coming from Laura herself.

Some of the clients Laura represents include abstract artist Toni Thornton Art, sport and wellbeing brand Pro11 Wellbeing, staffing solutions company Slink, fashion retailer The Style Attic, beauty pioneer Gina Collins and wellbeing haven The Reiki Room to name just a few. Alongside this, the agency also offer their services for adhoc releases, shoots and nurture campaigns, mainly within the media, beauty and fashion sector.

Laura prides herself and the agency on not just being experts in stellar PR, brand and talent representation, but on their know-how on how to tell a story through media, she said: “Thanks to our strategic communications, mentoring and creativity we have the perfect combination of passion and performance to generate unforgettable storytelling, campaigns and collaborations. Laura Robinson PR is an agency built on reputation and recommendations and we believe our dedication will take all of our clients to even greater heights, through growth, awareness and get you the recognition you deserve.”
