The 15th of October saw us launch 'A Novel Lunch' at Bibis Italian Restaurant in the heart of Leeds. All our lovely members and guests were invited and if you didn't book, you missed a real treat.

Hosted by the popular author, presenter, joke writer and Yorkshire Businesswoman ambassador Milly Johnson, our first guest author was Suzan Holder, wife of Noddy from 70s glam rock band Slade. Suzan's new book, What Would Dolly Do is about a Dolly Parton tribute who has stage fright! This must read book was available on the day, signed by Suzan herself, she even brought a life size Dolly with her!

Apart from tucking into a tasty two course meal, guests listened to both Milly and Suzan speak over a glass or two of fizz! What better way to spend an afternoon.

But, we weren't finished there. Following the lunch, we were joined by Frankie Falkingham, our new guest columnist and make-up artist, with more than 78,000 followers on Instagram, who shared with us her hints and tips for a flawless make-up look, using Joelle, our new member from Cedar Court Hotel as her model.

This book event is the first of many, all hosted by Milly with the next potentially in Harrogate in May 2026. Keep checking back on the member area and website for a confirmed date and venue.

By the way, if you're wondering about the image above, these are not real Milly books, but replicas made out of cake by one of our guests, to celebrate 20 years since Milly had her first book published, how fabulous are they! Milly quickly tucked it into her trolley to take home, can't blame her for not allowing us to all dive in!!

Is it me or is booking a train confusing?

Now that I have moved house, I will be a regular user of trains to get me back to Leeds for the many events we hold for Yorkshire Businesswoman and TopicUK. But, I have yet to get my head around the whole booking system! I wanted to reserve a train to get me from Cheshire to Leeds, simple, well you would think so! I have to change trains in Manchester but I don't think Trainline / Transpennine could make it more complicated if they tried! I have studied the many e-tickets they have sent me v

A busy old March!

March has been incredibly busy here at Yorkshire Businesswoman. We kicked the month off in the absolutely best way, celebrating the businesswomen of Yorkshire at the second Yorkshire Businesswoman Awards at the Marriott Hotel Leeds. The event was a complete sell out and what a night we had! The evening was full of fun, laughter and tears, happy tears I might add. I want to extend my congratulations to all the winners and to EVERYONE who was involved in whatever way, you all know who you are
