Wellington Place is encouraging the community to come together and learn all about honeybees

Developer and Asset Manager, MEPC, is hosting a virtual beekeeping lesson to help the local community get their nature fix whilst spending more time at home.

The Wellington Place business quarter in Leeds city centre is home to a colony of 45,000 + honeybees and will be showcasing all aspects of the bees’ lives in a virtual session on 17th June at 2pm, enabling viewers to learn about this declining species from behind the safety of their own screens.

The fascinating live lesson will be led by beekeeper, Bill Cadmore, who will use his expertise to discuss the sustainability of bees in Leeds’ city centre.

This is the latest virtual session to be offered by MEPC, which has opened up its programme of initiatives to the wider community, encouraging people to join them virtually for a host of wellbeing themed sessions – from a sing along with the choir to live workouts and chair yoga sessions.

Dominique Simcox, Head of Customer Experience at MEPC Wellington Place, added: “Wellington Place has been home to the colony of honeybees for the last 10 years and they are doing really well. We host beekeeping lessons for the people who work on the site to give them the unique experience of getting up close to the hives and learning more about the bees.

“I’m really excited that we have the opportunity to host a virtual lesson whilst people are spending more time at home, meaning that people can watch with their families and share the fascinating experience whilst learning more about this threatened species.”
