A joy to attend and support Smart Works Leeds

I had the pleasure of attending the Smart Works Fashion as a Force for Good Ball, last night (13th November) at The Marriott Hotel, celebrating the people who support this wonderful charity.

Smart Works opened in 2019 dressing and coaching unemployed women across Yorkshire for job success. The aim is to support clients to grow in confidence, get the job they want and change the trajectory of their lives.

Hosted by two Yorkshire Businesswoman ambassadors, Christine Talbot and Natalie Anderson, we are delighted to announce that Smart Works Leeds will be the Yorkshire Businesswoman chosen charity of the year 2025.

In the forthcoming edition (due out 5th December) we will tell you about Smart Works and the brilliant work they do in the region to support women, not only getting them back into work, but helping to build confidence.

If you're interested in learning more about this brilliant charity, do drop me a line and I will make an introduction. Perhaps you are a business who can get involved or an individual who has some clothes, shoes or bags to donate, I know they would love to hear from you.

I'm pictured with the lovely Matt Jameson, who will be at our awards on 7 March, also at The Marriott Leeds as we celebrate the businesswomen of Yorkshire on International Women's Day. Do head to the awards section here on our website and nominate your favourite business lady and purchase your ticket for this fabulous event.

A Novel Lunch - did you miss this treat?

The 15th of October saw us launch 'A Novel Lunch' at Bibis Italian Restaurant in the heart of Leeds. All our lovely members and guests were invited and if you didn't book, you missed a real treat. Hosted by the popular author, presenter, joke writer and Yorkshire Businesswoman ambassador Milly Johnson, our first guest author was Suzan Holder, wife of Noddy from 70s glam rock band Slade. Suzan's new book, What Would Dolly Do is about a Dolly Parton tribute who has stage fright! This must read b

Is it me or is booking a train confusing?

Now that I have moved house, I will be a regular user of trains to get me back to Leeds for the many events we hold for Yorkshire Businesswoman and TopicUK. But, I have yet to get my head around the whole booking system! I wanted to reserve a train to get me from Cheshire to Leeds, simple, well you would think so! I have to change trains in Manchester but I don't think Trainline / Transpennine could make it more complicated if they tried! I have studied the many e-tickets they have sent me v
