A Novel Lunch - did you miss this treat?

The 15th of October saw us launch 'A Novel Lunch' at Bibis Italian Restaurant in the heart of Leeds. All our lovely members and guests were invited and if you didn't book, you missed a real treat. Hosted by the popular author, presenter, joke writer and Yorkshire Businesswoman ambassador Milly Johnson, our first guest author was Suzan Holder, wife of Noddy from 70s glam rock band Slade. Suzan's new book, What Would Dolly Do is about a Dolly Parton tribute who has stage fright! This must read b

Is it me or is booking a train confusing?

Now that I have moved house, I will be a regular user of trains to get me back to Leeds for the many events we hold for Yorkshire Businesswoman and TopicUK. But, I have yet to get my head around the whole booking system! I wanted to reserve a train to get me from Cheshire to Leeds, simple, well you would think so! I have to change trains in Manchester but I don't think Trainline / Transpennine could make it more complicated if they tried! I have studied the many e-tickets they have sent me v

A busy old March!

March has been incredibly busy here at Yorkshire Businesswoman. We kicked the month off in the absolutely best way, celebrating the businesswomen of Yorkshire at the second Yorkshire Businesswoman Awards at the Marriott Hotel Leeds. The event was a complete sell out and what a night we had! The evening was full of fun, laughter and tears, happy tears I might add. I want to extend my congratulations to all the winners and to EVERYONE who was involved in whatever way, you all know who you are

Editor tries revolutionary skin treatment

None of us are getting any younger and if you’re like me, I yearn for the days of my youth when I didn’t have to worry about wrinkle lines, dark spots or a saggy jaw. That said, I am grateful to have got to the age that I have and know that I have earned every line and wrinkle. When I was growing up, there wasn’t the huge range of products to choose from that there are now, I think we can all be baffled at what is on the market. My mother believed nothing beat soap and water and as my skin was

It's almost time to celebrate the businesswomen of Yorkshire

It’s just a few weeks now to the second Yorkshire Businesswoman Awards on 7th March, as we celebrate the businesswomen of Yorkshire on International Women’s Day. The event has been sold out for a few weeks now and we have quite a healthy waiting list. Our apologies to all those who missed out, you will need to get in touch early for next year. We will be taking names for the first come first served list from April. We had a record number of nominations, and we were delighted to spend a day w

Yorkshire Businesswoman Awards - it's time to reserve your place

The Yorkshire Businesswoman awards committee met this morning at the Marriott Hotel Leeds, to host the judges who have worked hard to select the winners and runners up from the hundreds of nominations we received. Our thanks go to Sir Rodney Walker, Dame Linda Pollard, Sinead Rocks, Eleanor Baker, Sharon Jandu OBE, Sarah Power and Andrew Cooper for judging the awards and having the difficult job of selecting our winners and runners-up who will be announced on he night, 7th March as we once aga

A joy to attend and support Smart Works Leeds

I had the pleasure of attending the Smart Works Fashion as a Force for Good Ball, last night (13th November) at The Marriott Hotel, celebrating the people who support this wonderful charity. Smart Works opened in 2019 dressing and coaching unemployed women across Yorkshire for job success. The aim is to support clients to grow in confidence, get the job they want and change the trajectory of their lives. Hosted by two Yorkshire Businesswoman ambassadors, Christine Talbot and Natalie Anderson

Revisit to Castle Howard

It's almost 30 years since I last visited Castle Howard, I had forgotten how beautiful it was. On Saturday I was invited by Gillian Robson to attend the Bradleys of York and Faberge black tie dinner, celebrating the launch of their beautiful new Christmas pendant featuring a little Robin, voted Britain's most loved bird. Sadly Gillian wasn't able to attend for personal reasons but Debbie Dobson, director of sales at Dakota Hotel and I had an amazing time. Walking down the Christmas Tree ad
